Abstract—Direct broadcasting satellites (DBS) are goodopportunity illuminator for passive radar system. Thispaper presents a method for reception, decoding andreconstruction of DVB-S transmitting signal for the purposeof using it in passive radar systems as a reference signal. Therefore, this paper studies the performance of DBS as theopportunity illuminators for passive radar. The simulationresults demonstrate that the recreated reference signal has ahigh similarity with the transmitted signal, which can act asa perfectly reconstructed and error-free match signal forthe following 2D Cross-correlation processing.
